About Fair Deal Grocery

In 1953, Paul and Gladys Powell made the decision to open a grocery store, on the East Side of Charleston, to provide excellent service to the neighbors, and neighborhoods, around it. That store, Fair Deal Grocery, became the staple of the community.  Mr. Powell passed away in 1968, and Mrs. Powell; known to all as Ms. Gladys, along with their five children (Howard, George, Jerome, Santel, & Deborah) continued to carry the business forward.

Fair Deal Grocery "The Spot 47" is now renovated to better serve the community, while it continues to provide the love and togetherness that the wonderful neighbors have come to appreciate!  Come on by to select from your desired brands of beer, wine & other drinks; with on premises consumption, as well as a full menu with great food; 1/2 pound Hand Patted Angus Beef Burgers, 10" Hebrew national Spot Dogs on a soft Hoagie Bun w/ Home Made Chili, and much more, music, karaoke, televised  sports (viewed in surround sound), free WiFi, charging stations for your cell phone and laptop, and more!  Join us for a very pleasant experience, with great people, in a truly mature atmosphere!  By the way, did we mention that you can also buy your groceries!!!
